This project in Cambridge involved upgrading a loose gravel driveway into a structured and durable block paved surface, creating a cleaner and more practical entrance to the property.
Before the work began, the driveway consisted of a basic gravel surface that lacked definition and stability. While functional, the loose stones would shift underfoot and under vehicles, making the area difficult to maintain and giving the frontage a less refined appearance. The space also lacked clear edges and structure, which reduced its overall visual impact.

Our team began by removing the existing gravel and preparing the area for a full installation. Ground levels were adjusted and a strong sub-base was installed and compacted to create a stable foundation for the new driveway.
Once the groundwork was complete, we laid block paving across the full frontage using a traditional herringbone pattern, chosen for its strength and ability to handle regular vehicle use. The main paving was complemented with a charcoal border, helping to frame the driveway and give it a clean, defined finish.
The completed driveway now offers a solid, low-maintenance surface that is both practical and visually appealing. The contrast between the main paving and edging adds definition, while the overall layout provides a much more organised and finished look to the front of the property.
