We recently completed a beautiful resin-bound patio for a client in Ipswich. It completely transformed their tired and outdated garden area into a fresh, modern and low-maintenance outdoor space. The original patio consisted of old, discoloured concrete slabs that had become worn over time and difficult to clean, leaving the garden looking dull and uninviting. Process Overview
1. Preparation & Groundwork
The project began with thoroughly cleaning and preparing the existing concrete slab area. The original surface was made up of large, dated concrete slabs which had become discoloured, worn and uneven in some places. We began by deep cleaning the entire area using industrial equipment to remove any dirt and moss build-up. Any loose or unstable slabs were lifted, re-levelled and securely fixed back into place, creating a stable base. Then we primed the area using a specialist bonding agent, this ensured strong and long-lasting adhesion of the resin.
2. Resin Application & Installation
Once the area was cleared and ready, we could focus on applying the premium UV-stable resin, which was mixed with a beautiful blend of natural stone aggregates. The colour the homeowners chose provided a perfect contrast to the surrounding features of the garden, while also giving a clean and fresh appearance. The resin was hand-trowelled to create a smooth and seamless surface. This eliminated trip hazards and uneven areas, boosting the safety.
3. The Finishing Touches
Once the resin was set, we completed the project with some finishing touches. We carried out a full deep clean of the patio and surrounding areas, as well as making sure all the edges were neat and tidy.
