Stunning Block Paved Driveway in Bury St Edmunds
We recently completed this fantastic block paved driveway transformation at a property in Bury St Edmunds, giving the home a completely refreshed and modern look. The existing driveway was a mix of old concrete and paving slabs, it had cracks, uneven surface and overall a worn appearance. The homeowners wanted a new driveway that would enhance the kerb appeal and provide a long-lasting surface with good drainage and usability.

Process Overview
1. Removing the Old Driveway
We began by fully excavating the existing driveway, we removed the worn concrete, broken slabs and debris. This created a clean slate to install a proper new foundation.
2. Installing the Base
A high-quality MOT Type 1 sub-base was laid and compacted in layers to create a strong and stable foundation. This step was crucial for preventing any sinking or movement of the new block paving in the future.
3. Edge Restraints & Drainage
Charcoal block edging was installed around the perimeter of the driveway, this helped frame and define the new paving and add a smart, clean finish. A new drainage system was also fitted at the front of the driveway to help prevent surface water build-up and allow for proper water flow.
4. Block Paving Installation
The customer chose a stunning multi-coloured block paving laid in a classic herringbone pattern. This pattern not looks stunning and stylish, but it also significantly enhances the strength of the driveway, reducing the risk of future movement. The combination of warm red, grey, and charcoal tones really helps to complement the exterior of the property.
5. Finishing Touches
Once the blocks were laid and compacted, we brushed kiln-dried sand into all the joints to lock everything firmly into place. Then the area was fully cleaned down to leave it looking its best and ready to use.
The completed driveway has completely transformed the look and practicality of this property in Bury St Edmunds.
